Baby Quilt Project for New Grand Baby.

Unread post by Farmfresh » Fri Nov 23, 2018 8:18 pm

I have been working some on a quilt project for my new granddaughter who is due in February. I posted some in my journal, but decided to give it a thread all its own.

Here is what I have done so far.

I am planning on a "window pane" quilt with a flying geese patched boarder. Here is a picture that I found of a similar type of quilt.

I am doing hand embroidery of some baby animals for inside each window pane. I am planning on putting each critter into a "window" framed with some pretty calico of some kind (where this quilt has white bar frames) and then adding a border similar to the one in this picture, but using old fashioned calico prints. It will have a soft white back of some fabric that I picket up years ago and the border will be white with other colors (so far in my head any way) sage green, browns and a coral pink. I think that should work, but of course I still have to go on a fabric hunt.

Here are the first few animals that I have finished for the windows.

Only 4 more to create and then the patchwork can begin.

The next block that I have drawn is a lop eared bunny.

I got another block finished and one more about half done over the past few days. Here is the bunny. It was copied from the book Leo the Lop.

Leo the Lop is one of my favorite serendipity books! I still have mine from childhood. Another fav is Make Way for Ducklings.

The quilt is going to be adorable!
