I used to do the borax, washing soda and soap and was never impressed w/it. It didn't seem to clean that great and was no cheaper than the detergent I buy. Right now I have several bottles, so once I'm done w/that maybe I'll try this.

Well now you just blew it.......you know I'm terrified of pressure canning |em13|

Making the soap is a little like pressure canning. The fear of it is far worse than actually doing it.

Thanks for posting this and I think I'm going to try your recipe. The one I did use for awhile was just the Borax, washing soda, Oxyclean and the grated soap bar. I used Ivory cause the Fels had too strong of smell to it. It did ok, but I wasn't overly impressed. I'm thinking adding the baking soda & salt would work better. I've since been buying the cheap stuff from Walmart called 'Foca' (I think) in the plastic bag. It works fairly well.

I can't wait for you to post your bar soap recipe, hopefully with full instructions. This is something I've been dragging my feet on and maybe your process will give me the confidence to give it a try.

I have been making my own laundry soap for years and years. I MUCH prefer using a dry recipe, because it is so much easier to store and use. This is how I do it.
