Polish Rolled Steak

I decided not to make soup for dinner but my mom’s rolled steak instead. I wasn’t sure if my son would eat it because last time I made it he didn’t like it. This time he did and said to make it again.

It’s simply steak (some not real tender like a round, eye of round etc), pounded thin, with yellow mustard spread over one side and a dill pickle put on the mustard. You roll up the pickle inside the steak and use toothpicks to hold it closed. Season the meat with season salt and pepper, then dredge them in flour.

You brown them in some oil, I used olive oil, then after they’re all nicely browned you add 2 cups of water and some beef bouillon. Simmer them for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until tender. I turned them over half way through cooking. The flour they were dredged in makes the pan drippings into a nice thick gravy.

I served them with mashed potatoes since I had them already made in the refrigerator but you could serve over egg noodles or even rice if you prefer.
