Farmfresh suggested we create a thread on this subject so here it is!
This is the Fairy Garden that I created this morning, I was going for a tropical-ish theme.

Thanks Patrice! I just love this idea.
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit. -The Tick ~~ Bible verse Revelation 6:15-17 - look it up!

Re: Fairy & Container Gardens
Here’s a container garden I put together too.
Really the only difference between Fairy Gardens and container gardens is the ornaments you add to the container. In a fairy garden you are creating a scene or a room where a fairy or gnome would live or visit.
The sky’s the limit with regards to plants or decorations, pick whatever you love and add them to a container. You can even add small strings of battery operated lights or solar stakes.

Thanks calendula, I cannot wait to see what your kids made. It’s such a good way to get kids into gardening!

Re: Fairy & Container Gardens
This is Lily and Palmer’s fairy garden. It is in a rectangular planter, the type you’d put on a window sill. We would like to transfer it to something a little bigger, but not so big that I can’t easily bring it into the house over winter. We have some pansies, hen and chicks, and a couple other plants that I don’t remember the names of right now.
